Social Media & Communications Coordinator

Drug Discovery News (DDN) is looking for a Social Media and Communications Coordinator to assist with building a community of life scientists working in translational, pre-clinical, drug development, and clinical research.

We are looking for a creative and collaborative individual with an interest in life science research and familiarity with social media and communications best practices. Working closely with the editorial team, the social media coordinator will assist in developing and implementing a social media strategy for DDN, and communicating the important information contained in our content to a variety of interested readers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the editorial team to develop and implement a social media and communications program for DDN
  • Collaborate with the design team to create a new look and feel for our social media channels and to generate visual and video content for ongoing posts
  • Coordinate with the editorial team to maintain a posting schedule of creative and engaging content
  • Stay up to date on social media best practices
  • Develop creative new ways to write and present our content and engage our audience
  • Communicate with scientists, PIOs, and communications officers
  • Develop an engaged audience and drive traffic to our website
  • Moderate comments on social channels
  • Write and post content to our website and social channels
  • Stay current and share relevant content that will be of interest to our readers
  • Monitor social media trends and alert the editorial team
  • Report on social analytics

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in life sciences or science writing (advanced degree preferred)
  • 2-4 years of experience in social media, journalism, or marketing
  • Understanding of audience development, performance metrics, and analytics
  • Collaborative, creative, and innovative
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organization, time management, research, and analytical skills
  • Dedication to journalism standards
  • Excellent writing skills

Compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience
  • Participation in company benefits after vesting period
